How do they work?
The candle works by slowly burning down and causing a slight vacuum in the ear, while the natural movement of the flame gently vibrates the air, massaging the eardrum. The heat from the candle helps stimulate the blood circulation in the and also stimulates reflex zones and energy points. The vacuum caused by the candle helps draw out was and other impurities while regulating the pressure within the ear. The candles themselves are made of cotton covered with beeswax and the essential oils sage and chamomile, all organically grown. There is also a small filter within the candle, which prevents any candle wax or residue running into the ear.
Example:
After placing the correct end of the cone into the ear, the other end is set alight. As it burns, the ear candle causes two effects:
1. Heat
The heat, which is beneficially released towards the inside of the ear, reinforces the blood circulation and helps soften the wax
2. Suction
The warm air, which rises creates a depression and consequent suction ("chimney effect") at the base of the ear candle. This helps eliminate waste and deposits from the ear canal. It also liberates close pores, regenerates the breathing of the skin, and helps regain the correct tension of the eardrum following mountain climbing, flights, swimming and diving which can cause a "blocked ear" feeling.

Ear candles indirectly act on the points used in acupuncture revitalising them and creating a beneficial relaxing effect for the client.
